About The Position

The Treatment Department at the North Dakota State Penitentiary (NDSP) is seeking a motivated Addiction Counselor Intern to join our team. This paid internship ($20.00/hour) offers an exceptional opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience delivering treatment services within a unique and meaningful correctional setting. Interns will also be eligible to receive academic credit. The North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck ND, is a maximum custody facility that houses male residents and is part of the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Our Mission: Transforming lives, influencing change, strengthening community. We are seeking a dedicated team member to join our Treatment Department. This role involves working collaboratively in a group setting to support clients on their path to recovery and wellness. The ideal candidate will embrace a holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on health maintenance through patient education and encouraging self-empowerment.

Requirements

Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program in the United States
Must be at least of sophomore standing by the beginning of the internship (or must have completed the first year of a vocational/technical program by the beginning of the internship)
Must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Must be working in an internship that aligns with the student's academic major or career goals.
