About The Position

The Addictions Counselor will provide a wide range of clinical services to clients within the limits of training and credentialing under supervision. The role involves conducting initial evaluations, developing treatment plans, and maintaining an active caseload while providing various forms of counseling. The counselor will also consult with community systems to facilitate treatment goals and maintain compliance with documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with relevant credentials (e.g., CADAC II, CADAC IV, ICAC I, ICAC II, LAC, MAC, NCAC I, NCAC II, NCAAC, LSW with MATS, ACIT II with MATS) or a Master's degree in a mental health field with relevant credentials.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in addictions treatment.
  • Demonstrate competence in assessment and treatment of chemically dependent clients.
  • Knowledge of the natural history of dependence and relevant biological and sociocultural factors.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate competence in assessment and treatment planning for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Understanding of the range of treatment needed and appropriate utilization of available treatment resources.
  • Willingness to use reliable personal transportation in work capacity.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed/Credentialed in State of Indiana preferred.
  • Maintain current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
  • Maintain current American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial evaluation and consumer intake interviews; assess consumer's presenting problems and formulate diagnosis.
  • Develop, implement and modify consumer treatment plans as necessary.
  • Carry out case management services related to consumer treatment.
  • Maintain an active caseload, providing individual, group, marital, and family counseling as needed.
  • Consult and cooperate with community systems for linkage, referral, crisis management, advocacy, and follow-up.
  • Follow Center procedures regarding consumer care and documentation.
  • Maintain client and program records in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to remain knowledgeable in areas of expertise.
  • Attend meetings and meet regularly with supervisor for information exchange and supervision.
  • Serve as a resource person to the Center and community in areas of expertise.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality and professional stature.
  • Demonstrate competent use of Methasoft.
  • Monitor caseload for compliance with third-party payers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
