AWS established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them. The AWS Intelligence team is seeking highly motivated engineers who are focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations, have a good understanding of Linux, networking and general knowledge of cloud services. We need engineers who understand how to think big, and simplify solutions to complex problems; all the while ensuring that our customers continue to have the best experience possible.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+.
  • 2+ years of systems administration (Linux or Windows) experience.
  • 2+ years of networking (such as DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP) experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience in technical support.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts.
  • Knowledge of databases, storage and big data concepts.
  • Experience with AWS core services, Command Console, or command line interface.
  • Experience with Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Hypervisor).
  • Experience with security concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, Routing Protocols, SSH, Network Monitoring / Troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep to find the root cause of customer issues.
  • Investigate why a metric is trending in the wrong direction.
  • Discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes.
  • Provide troubleshooting and operations support.
  • Innovate to automate operational tasks.
  • Identify ineffective processes and resolve operational concerns.
