About The Position

The ADC Construction Project Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction and maintenance projects within the Arkansas Department of Correction. This role involves managing a skilled workforce, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining safety standards on construction sites. The supervisor will also interact with inmates and participate in security functions, making this a critical position for both project management and institutional safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Seven years of experience in construction work.
• Two years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a medium to large size skilled craft and protective service staff.
• Interviews applicants and recommends hiring decisions.
• Approves leave and makes work assignments for staff.
• Evaluates work performance of employees and provides training.
• Directs construction and maintenance activities for the agency.
• Ensures compliance with state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Meets with architects/engineers to interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Coordinates equipment and manpower for construction projects.
• Determines material needs for projects and monitors site progress.
• Assists staff with security functions, including inmate counts and writing disciplinarians.
• Prepares and presents construction reports and purchase order requests.
• Maintains inventory of building materials, equipment, and tools.
• Interviews inmates to assess their suitability for construction work.
• Attends conferences and meetings as required.
