About The Position

The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) is seeking energetic, attentive and outgoing Adaptive Private Lesson Instructors. These Instructors are responsible for teaching individualized adaptive swim lessons. The hours are flexible and the pay rate is $15/per 30-minute lesson. The JCC is a non-profit social services agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. Committed to meeting the ever-changing needs of the entire community, the JCC strengthens Jewish identity and enriches quality of life through diversified social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs. Operating out of five facilities throughout Wisconsin, the JCC provides the total community with a forum for open dialogue and offers inclusive wellness, education, and community services for members and guests of all backgrounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instruction Complete all required training with Aquatics Director and/or Assistant Aquatics Director as needed. Must be able to modify and offer alternatives to lesson objectives for participants. Arrive on time both physically and mentally prepared to teach at least 10minutes prior to the start of each scheduled lesson. Dress in appropriate Swim Instructor uniform. Have lesson areas, including equipment, cones, and rope, set up prior to class and put away after class. Communicate with families before or after each lesson what skills the child explored during the lesson. American Red Cross Program Knowledge Be familiar and comfortable teaching ages 4-18years. Be Familiar and comfortable with the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. Use a variety of swim lesson equipment to accomplish benchmark skills. Communication Update availability seasonally using established methods. Read e-mail communications regarding new lessons scheduled in a 48-hour time window. Connect via e-mail to lesson families PRIOR to the first lesson to gather any necessary information. Must track lessons taught on the reconciliation form and submit to the Assistant Aquatics Director bi-weekly. Communicate with families when their lesson package is ending. Communicate any questions, comments, or challenges weekly with the Assistant Aquatics Director. An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. Requirements

  • Must be 18+
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of swim instruction experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with participants living with disabilities.
  • 100+ hours of swim instructor experience with the American Red Cross Program or Similar Experience
  • Must be able to meet all criteria laid out in Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must have a minimum of 3 hours availability per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard and WSI certification preferred.
