About The Position

The position involves providing adapted physical education instruction tailored to meet the needs and goals of students as specified in their Individualized Education Programs (IEP). Responsibilities include teaching physical fitness, gross motor skills, perceptual motor skills, and sports and games achievement. The role also requires individualized assessment and instruction in neuromotor development, gross motor skills, physical fitness, games, sports, and other recreational activities. Additionally, the position entails consulting and training parents and staff on adapted physical education techniques, documenting student progress through various assessment methods, and seeking technical assistance from colleagues and specialists as needed. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree
  • Valid California Teaching Credential in Adapted Physical Education
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and student needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral forms.

Responsibilities
