About The Position

As a Meat Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the meat department within the retail setting of a grocery store. You will be responsible for ensuring quality and freshness of meat products while providing excellent customer service. You will be driving labor efficiency, sales and gross profit margins in alignment with the store.

Requirements

• Preferred: One (1) year meat management or butchery experience.
• ServeSafe certification or comparable.

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the product and services offered by the company.
• Maintain a happy, full, fresh and clean sales floor department.
• Train and supervise meat department staff ensuring adherence to established procedures and customer service standards.
• Schedule and coordinate shifts to have proper coverage.
• Provide ongoing feedback, performance evaluations and training opportunities for meat employees.
• Monitor meat inventory levels, ordering products such as but not limited to various cuts of meat and poultry to maintain a diverse and stocked selection.
• Implement inventory control measures to minimize and ensure freshness.
• Ensure that all meat products meet quality and safety standards.
• Work with suppliers to select and maintain high quality meat products.
• Oversee the butchery and processing of meat products, ensuring the cuts are prepared based on company standards.
• Ensure meat products are presented attractively and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Handle customer inquiries, concerns and special requests in a prompt and professional manner.
• Setting and achieving sales targets.
• Monitoring sales performance and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
• Conducting regular safety training for meat department staff.
• Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the deli equipment and work areas.
• Monitor expenses, control waste and optimizing cost effectiveness.
• Communicate with store management regarding inventory, sales and any issues within the department.
• Adhere to all company safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
