The ADA/504 Coordinator at Brown University plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, along with other relevant federal and state laws concerning individuals with disabilities. This position is responsible for coordinating the university's policies and procedures related to disability services, tracking the institution's progress in adhering to these policies, and filing necessary reports. The ADA/504 Coordinator will provide consultative services to various university departments and offices, ensuring that all aspects of ADA compliance are met effectively. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity, Accessibility, and Compliance (AVP), the ADA/504 Coordinator will manage day-to-day responsibilities associated with the university's ADA compliance efforts. This role serves as a primary point of contact for community members and guests seeking information on reasonable accommodations, the discrimination and harassment complaint process, and other accessibility-related inquiries. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including Campus Life, the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED), University Human Resources, the Office of General Counsel, and Student Accessibility Services, to develop and implement training programs and informational materials aimed at educating faculty, staff, and students about ADA compliance, equal opportunity, and nondiscrimination policies.
