About The Position

The Speech Pathologist is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, providing clinical services and communication with patients, families, and other professionals/service providers in the medical community. This professional position will allow you to apply your extensive knowledge and expertise in of speech pathology with all of your patients. Auburn Medical Center primarily focuses on ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, ED, ortho, total joint replacements, neuro, and podiatry. Covington is a smaller community based hospital, that focuses on PCU, Med/Surg, elective Total Joints, Ortho, and Podiatric population. MultiCare utilizes EPIC for all electronic medical records. Our department productivity standard is currently 69% for 8-hour day with expectation of 7-9 patients seen per day, once up and running. We are in need of an SLP who can participate in our weekend rotation schedule, but who also has weekday availability for sick call and PTO coverage. All employees are expected to cross-cover both Auburn and Covington Medical Centers, so training occurs for both sites in the first month or two. Per diem staff are also expected to work a minimum of 1 holiday per year, and be able to complete mandatory education/training during non-shift hours, but on the clock. Our New Employee Orientation process is very rigorous for the first few weeks to a month (and would likely require some time off from an alternate position), and certain aspects are mandatory with regard to schedule. Following the first 3-4 days, we are then able to schedule dates for departmental orientation and get staff up and running. FTE: 0.01, Shift: Days, Schedule: Days

Requirements

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association OR be in the process of completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with supervision by a CCC-SLP in accordance with standards defined by the ASHA
  • Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Washington or holding an interim permit
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Previous Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist preferred

Responsibilities

  • You will provide assessment, interpretation, and reporting of clinical observations
  • You will perform patient assessments with physician and develop treatment plans
  • You will perform and interpret results of Videofluoroscpic swallow studies and fiberoptic endoscopic of swallowing
  • You will confer with physician and other health care professionals
