FirstHealth is seeking a dynamic, experienced Physical Therapist to lead our Acute Care team. In this hybrid role, you will split your time between delivering exceptional direct patient care in ICUs, ED and acute medical floors and providing operational, clinical, and mentoring leadership to our team of dedicated therapists. You will play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes, optimizing throughput, and fostering a collaborative, evidence-based culture.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate (DPT preferred) from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Licensure: Current North Carolina Physical Therapist license and BLS certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in an acute care or hospital setting. Strong competencies in acute care (e.g., ICU, Med/surg units, ED, early mobility, complex discharge planning).
  • Leadership: At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory, charge, or lead therapist role.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Supervise daily operations, including staff scheduling, caseload assignments, and staffing coverage to meet acute patient demands.
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide high-quality PT evaluations and treatments in specialized areas such as ICU, Step-Down, ED and Ortho/Neuro units.
  • Mentorship & Development: Provide on-boarding, clinical training, and mentoring to staff and students to promote clinical reasoning and best practices.
  • Quality & Safety: Ensure compliance with DNV, Medicare, and CMS standards, conducting chart audits. Lead departmental quality assurance (QA) and performance improvement (PI) projects, serving as a liaison to interprofessional teams.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between physicians, nursing, and case management to facilitate efficient, safe patient discharges.
