Advancement on the ladder results in a percentage increase of current pay. This PRN position involves 12-hour night shifts from 7 pm to 7 am. Acute Internal Medicine Registered Nurses provide high-quality care for patients experiencing acute medical conditions, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals for timely and effective treatment. Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the largest hospital in Missouri and a top-ranked hospital by U.S. News & World Report, is a Magnet Hospital certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Acute Care Medicine division handles patients with a full range of clinical issues including blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, and asthma. The unit provides advanced training for new nurses and is supported by a clinical manager, lead charge nurse, advanced practice nurse, case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist, all working with physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to ensure quality patient care. The role involves providing direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing care standards.
