About The Position

Performs nursing duties, providing direct patient care in a safe and effective manner that promotes quality patient outcomes. Performs acute hemodialysis procedures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Requirements

  • BSN with two years’ clinical experience (3,000 hrs) or ADN with three years’ experience (4,500 hrs)
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Early Assessment Recognition (PEARS) certification within 1 year of hire date

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Preferred
  • Preferred Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) through Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) upon hire. If not CDN certified upon hire; strongly preferred to achieve certification upon meeting eligibility requirements. If unable to meet CDN eligibility requirements; preferred to achieve Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification upon meeting eligibility requirements through PNCB.
  • Previous dialysis or apheresis experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a neonatal, cardiac, critical care and/or pediatric care setting strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs Hemodialysis priming, emergency management, and bedside clinical care under the direction of the nephrologist.
  • Participates in scheduling patient procedures.
  • Integrates values and language preferences into healthcare delivery through a culturally sensitive process.
  • Utilizes clinical decision support tools and resources to recognize issues, prioritize care, and modify plan of care as needed.
  • Utilizes appropriate documentation tools to record, measure, and retrieve healthcare data.
  • Provides patient and family education appropriate for identified learning needs
  • Utilizes resources to plan and provide nursing care that is safe, effective, and financially responsible.
  • Participates in lifelong learning to maintain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice
  • Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competence and learning.
  • Self-evaluates professional practice in relation to performance, development, resiliency, and goals.
  • Takes action to achieve goals identified during performance review, resulting in change in practice and role performance.
  • Consults, contributes to, and coordinates care with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
  • Ensures quality customer service and effective communication with all customers and coworkers
  • Engages in ethical practices utilizing principles from The Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Maintains therapeutic and professional relationships with appropriate role boundaries.
  • Contributes to a supportive and healthy work environment.
  • Demonstrates investment in others through teaching/coaching/helper roles.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment and supply inventory
  • Integrates evidence and research findings into clinical judgement and nursing practice.
  • Participates in monitoring activities within work environment to maintain a culture of safety.
  • Identifies and communicates hazards and errors.
  • Participates in quality and process improvement activities to improve patient outcome and workflows.
  • Completes orientation and Initial Assessment of Competency successfully by determined due date
  • Completes mandatory education and annual competency assessment requirements as defined by unit and system by due date
  • 75% attendance at staff meetings, if applicable
