Banner – University Medical Center South is an academic medical center that includes an Emergency department, a state-designated trauma center and a Behavioral Health Pavilion. As an Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist at BUMC South Tucson, your Primary responsibilities will be supervision of technicians, order verification while inpatient, and clinical coverage working directly with physicians and nurses when working decentralized on a unit. Our department operates on a hybrid model where pharmacists gain a wide variety of experience in the centralized pharmacy as well as during decentralized coverage on the medical units. Our hospital pharmacy provides the unique experience for pharmacists to be trained in a wide variety of clinical areas including general medicine, critical care, and emergency medicine. Additionally, this position would include learning aspects of investigational drug pharmacy and participating in training of pharmacy students and pharmacy residents. This is a part time position, 20 hours per week, with varied shifts including 6:30AM -3PM, 7AM -3:30PM, 1:30PM - 10PM, and rotating weekends and holidays required. Banner - University Medical Center South is a comprehensive academic medical center that is an Arizona Department of Health Services-accredited Cardiac Receiving Center and a Nurses Improving Care for Health system Elders-designated senior-friendly hospital. The hospital is staffed by physicians who are full-time faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson and is managed by Banner Health under an operating agreement with Pima County. Specialty services include inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, treatment and education for diabetes, innovative geriatrics care and comprehensive orthopedics. This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process, accountable for documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care delivered. It oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinating workflow and approving medications prior to being dispensed. The role requires demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served, assessing data reflective of the patient’s status, interpreting information to identify patient requirements, and providing pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adherence to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice is essential.
