As an Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, you have the opportunity to rotate through various roles including decentralized in the ICU, telemetry and observation floors, sterile compounding, management of outpatient and parenteral nutrition orders, and traditional dispensing roles.   • Processes medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information.
  • Utilizes clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulates recommendations to ensure optimal safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness for all prescribed medication therapies.
  • Contacts the prescriber with suggestions for improvement and resolves problems with medication orders as needed.
  • Serves as a resource for patients and the health care team. Provides requested medication information in a timely manner.
  • Complies with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group.
  • Documents activities related to patient care in the electronic medical record and other electronic databases as applicable.
  • Drives their professional development through the utilization of BPS educational resources to achieve competence in the current and future BH acute pharmacy core clinical practices and activities.
  • Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile or non-sterile compounded medications, in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with company policies and procedures and established regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, which may include management of technology, inventory management, and accurate record keeping.
  • Supervises and directs the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, and students.
  • Requires unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
  • Must be licensed within 90 days of hire unless the delay is due to the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Banner Registry and Travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license at the time of hire and a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Must possess good organizational, problem solving, and computer skills.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts.
  • Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Automated dispensing system.
  • Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire.
  • Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program or previous clinical pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
  • $10,000 hire-on incentive available!
  • Flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.
  • 18%-night shift differential when applicable.
