About The Position

15AB Surgical and Medical Unit – TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital The 15AB unit at TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital specializes in providing comprehensive care for patients undergoing vascular, plastic, and general surgical procedures. Our experienced team cares for patients recovering from a wide range of surgeries, including abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral-popliteal bypass, abdominal surgeries, and fasciotomies. Additionally, we support patients undergoing reconstructive procedures such as TRAM flap surgeries, mastectomies with reconstruction, and mammoplasty reductions. In addition to our surgical focus, the 15AB unit also provides care for various medical patients requiring close monitoring. We are equipped with telemetry monitoring to track cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips, ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care during their stay. May perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed including but not limited to stocking and clerical activities.

Requirements

2 years High School Education
Age 17 with work permit
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Reading and math ability appropriate to the position

Responsibilities

Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN.
Maintains competency of tasks in which the PCA has been trained.
Completes assigned tasks within required timeframe.
Seeks clarification from the nurse when in doubt about how to proceed.
Maintains a safe environment.
Reports safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
Completes safety event report as necessary.
Complies with Infection Control policies.
Demonstrates knowledge of safety/emergency policies and procedures and appropriately corrects any identified hazards.
Communicates effectively with others.
Shows respect to patients, families and co-workers.
Reports patient related information in a timely manner.
Reports problems in completing assignment/tasks in a timely manner to the appropriate person.
