About The Position

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital is seeking an Acute Care Speech Language Pathologist PRN to provide high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. The Speech Therapist will perform comprehensive patient assessments, establish appropriate treatment goals, and serve as an educator to patients, families, students, and colleagues. This role involves conducting subjective assessments, administering objective tests, structuring individualized patient programs, evaluating patient progress, documenting in patient charts, and consulting with the Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding patient placements.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • (SLP) Speech-Language Pathologist certification.
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient's speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
  • Administer objective tests to assess patient's communication assets and liabilities.
  • Structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.
  • Evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress.
  • Document progress in patient's chart, including notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
  • Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations.
