About The Position

It is accredited by The Joint Commission and is a two-time Pathway to Excellence-designated facility, offering 24/7 emergency care, ambulance services, cardiac rehabilitation, physical therapy, breast health, and gastroenterology services. As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. This role involves utilizing evidence-based practice and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients, and supervises care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. The position also facilitates communication with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members, adhering to MercyOne’s performance expectations and upholding the Mission, Vision, and Values.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing required
  • Registered Nurse in Iowa
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessment
  • Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
  • Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care
  • Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed
  • Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
  • Demonstrates clinical competence
  • Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
  • Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
