Bingham Healthcare is seeking an Acute Care Nursing Department Manager to lead our Emergency, Medical/Surgical, and ICU departments. The Acute Care Nursing Department Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the Acute Care Service Line, including Emergency, Medical/Surgical, and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) departments. Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this leader ensures the delivery of high‑quality, safe, and patient‑centered nursing care across all acute care areas. The Manager is responsible for directing, and evaluating nursing staff while ensuring compliance with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and evidence‑based professional standards of care. This role champions collaboration, staff engagement, and continuous performance improvement to enhance clinical outcomes and patient experience.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • RN license in Idaho (or ability to obtain)
  • 2-5 years acute care experience; 2+ years leadership experience
  • A leader committed to high reliability, resilience, and continuous improvement
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current RN license in state.
  • Minimum 2–5 years acute care clinical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years leadership or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of clinical operations, regulatory standards, and best practices in nursing leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or passion for rural healthcare delivery
  • Experience in Emergency, Med/Surg, or ICU leadership.
  • Certification in Nursing Leadership (e.g., CNML, NE‑BC).

Responsibilities

  • Operational and clinical oversight of Emergency, Med/Surg, and ICU
  • Recruitment, mentorship, and development of rural nursing teams
  • Quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Coordination of patient flow within rural resources
  • Collaboration with providers and departments across the continuum
  • Provides strategic leadership and daily operational oversight for Emergency, Medical/Surgical, and ICU departments.
  • Collaborates closely with the CNO to support organizational priorities, long‑range planning, and nursing strategic initiatives.
  • Promotes a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Oversees hiring, staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning to ensure safe, effective patient care.
  • Ensures delivery of high‑quality nursing care aligned with regulatory standards, professional practice guidelines, and patient safety goals.
  • Monitors clinical performance indicators, patient outcomes, and quality metrics; leads improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with all CMS, Joint Commission, state, and local regulations.
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff to promote professional growth and retention.
  • Implements orientation, continuing education, and competency programs.
  • Fosters a healthy work environment emphasizing respect, open communication, and shared decision‑making.
  • Participates in budget management and recommendations for equipment, supplies, and technology.
  • Works closely with physicians, ancillary departments, and organizational leaders to ensure seamless patient flow and coordinated care across the continuum.
  • Engages in performance improvement teams.
