About The Position

Our Structural Heart Program at the University of Maryland Medical Center located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland is hiring an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Structural Heart Program. Schedule: 4 10 hour days and typically call 1 day per week and 1 weekend a month Position Description: Responsible for the coordination and implementation of all processes leading to Structural Heart procedures under the direction of a supervising physician/cardiac surgeon. Primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatients care, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration of departments to support the care of the structural heart patients both pre and post procedure. Data gathering and entry through inpatient and outpatient chart review and communication with program staff and patients. Inputs data and reviews reports produced from the database for completeness. Works with collaborating physician to determine appropriate management and treatment of structural heart patients. Ancillary clinics include: Upper Chesapeake, Queenstown, Reisterstown, and BWMC (will go to 2 out of 4). Assist with obtaining TVT registry data. Maintain referral work queue for scheduling of referrals to Structural Heart Clinic. Collaborates with inpatient and other clinic staff to develop informational/educational materials appropriate for the patient population. Assesses learning needs of patient populations and develops curriculum/content accordingly Participates in monthly and programmatic quarterly meetings

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP will be considered in lieu of acute care certification)
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of MD.
  • Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of MD.
  • Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the MD Department of Regulation APRN Board. Once licensed may apply for a controlled substance license and DEA number OR Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program/Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of MD.   • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - BLS, issued by the American Heart Association
