Requirements

  • At least 1 year experience working as a Critical Care NP or PA and/or Critical Care post-graduate fellowship or residency training required.
  • Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as an ACNP.
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at state date and DEA registration required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
  • Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
  • Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work within diverse care teams comprised of physicians and NP PAs with 24/7 in house coverage.
  • Provide care for a wide variety of patients in a high acuity, dynamic and collaborative ICU.
  • Rotate day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts with the Medical ICU and Multidisciplinary ICU teams.
  • Care for both medical and surgical patients requiring ICU level of care, including cardiac/heart failure, cardiothoracic surgery, ECMO, neurology, neurosurgery, hematology/oncology, bone marrow transplant, and solid organ transplant patients.
  • Partner with the intensivist to assess, diagnose and treat patients.
  • Perform procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Participate in patient care, education and research.
  • Represent the department of Critical Care Medicine in quality improvement projects, subcommittees and workgroups.
