About The Position

The Acute Care Manager will oversee the Emergency Department at Ohio County Hospital, ensuring 24-hour accountability for nursing services. This role involves collaborating with the Director of Acute Services, the Director of Nursing, and the CCO to set objectives, manage costs, and maintain staffing within budget. The manager will implement departmental policies, evaluate nursing care quality, and provide staff development. Responsibilities also include acting as a liaison between staff and administration, participating in performance improvement efforts, and handling staff counseling and disciplinary actions as needed.

Requirements

• Current BSN RN license in the state of Kentucky or current work permit issued by KBN.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• BLS Provider or equivalent knowledge.
• ACLS provider certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• PALS provider certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Nursing.
• One year management experience preferred.
• Previous experience in Emergency Medicine required.
• Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 24-hour accountability for nursing services in the Emergency Department.

• Establish and monitor work schedules and maintain staffing within budget.
• Act as a liaison between staff and administration to ensure open communication.
• Implement departmental policies and procedures in compliance with standards of care.
• Evaluate the quality of nursing care and staff performance.
• Provide staff development and orientation.
• Oversee performance improvement efforts for emergency services.
• Participate in counseling, disciplinary action, or termination processes as directed.
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving and leadership skills.
