About The Position

As identified in the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act & Joint Commission regulations, provide patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The RN care manager validates the work of the LPN. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Requirements

Experience providing patient care.
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strive to manage situations in a manner, which minimizes risk to the patient and the institution. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care and department activities. (Required proficiency)
Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, utilizing appropriate reporting structures. Formulates positive working relationships with all health care customers and employees. (Required proficiency)
Licensed Practical Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted.

Responsibilities

Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting.

Develops a collaborative plan with the registered nurse encompassing strategies to achieve expected outcomes.

Evaluates progress in collaboration with the registered nurse toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect.
Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and supports the effectiveness of professional relationships and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice.
Demonstrates advocacy in all roles and settings.
