About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY This position works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and assist with direct patient care services that do not require licensure. Primary tasks include patient hygiene, activities of daily living, nutritional support, vital signs, attaching patient to appropriate monitoring, completing 12 lead ECGs, ambulating and other basic patient care activities as directed. Assists the Monitor Technician by responding to telephone calls, call lights, pneumatic tube arrivals, intercom system and completes miscellaneous filing as directed. Assists in ordering equipment and supplies, assures room readiness, keeps the unit clutter free, and responds to other requests by nursing personnel for resources to meet patient care needs. Maintains positive public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. Ensures safe handling of infectious material(s) to protect all patients and employees.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED certificate required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting is required.
  • The ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • The ability to provide personal care to patients in a compassionate and caring manner.
  • The ability to position/transfer patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Nursing School experience strongly preferred.
