About The Position
FuturePlan is the nation's largest third-party administrator (TPA) of retirement plans, partnering with advisors in all 50 states. As part of the FuturePlan team, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where you will gain hands-on experience in the field of actuarial science. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of benefit plan operations across a variety of clients and designs. You will work closely with credentialed plan professionals and actuaries, engaging in projects that require a detail-oriented approach and high-level problem-solving skills. During your internship, you will apply your analytical skills to prepare and review individual benefit calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. You will also have the opportunity to organize and analyze participant data, checking for inconsistencies and identifying next steps. Learning to interpret plan documents will be a key component of your role, as these legal documents govern the administration of the plans. Additionally, you will assist with special projects, such as plan terminations, lump sum windows, and software conversions, which will enhance your understanding of the industry. The internship will also focus on analyzing and improving internal processes and procedures to increase accuracy, consistency, and efficiency. You will consult with clients regarding benefit administration, including regulations, plan documents, data, and calculations, which will help you develop strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships within the industry.
