Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is a Partner of Choice for the Nebraska University System. Our Interns work a hybrid schedule and spend some days working on-site at our Omaha office located in Aksarben Village. Therefore, you will need to live within commuting distance from June 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026. The actuarial intern will be introduced to fundamental health insurance and actuarial concepts by assisting actuarial staff with projects such as trend analysis, health insurance pricing, financial and block management.

Requirements

• Candidates must be local to the Omaha metro area and able to provide their own housing and transportation.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• At least one completed exam from the Society of Actuaries.

Responsibilities

• Learn or enhance skills in SQL, VBA, RStudio, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Gather data and compile it into a meaningful format for use by decision-making staff and management.
• Be exposed to decision-making processes between the actuarial department and other areas of the company such as product development, legal, underwriting, and accounting/finance.
• Learn about health insurance pricing, regulation, benefits, etc.
