Position Overview Reporting to the Vice-President & Actuary, Consolidated Reporting, the Actuary, Consolidated Reporting, assumes corporate actuarial tasks in order to meet departmental objectives. The role will involve extensive interaction with other RGA departments and offices on a variety of projects.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in the life insurance industry
  • Experience in reinsurance
  • Experience working independently and in an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration is essential
  • FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries or FCIA designation from the Canadian Institute of Actuaries
  • Strong knowledge and interest for computer & software skills: MS Office, VBA, SQL, Prophet
  • Knowledge of Embedded Value and Value of Inforce
  • Good knowledge of LDTI and IFRS standards
  • Strong ability to implement organizational, divisional, and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement and success through exceptional leadership skills, collaboration and creative thinking
  • Ability to work within changing priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
  • Solid technical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Sense of organization and attention to details

Nice To Haves

  • Change Management and/or Project Management experience, an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to enhance calculation, governance, and reporting of the Value of In-force Business Margins metric including integration into the Enterprise Model
  • Support for the development of new enhancements for the Enterprise Forecasting platform as well as analysis of results for assigned features/business.
  • Lead and support other projects and initiatives critical to the Consolidated Reporting team and the broader Global Valuation team including Strategic Finance Roadmap efforts.
  • Produce and maintain the documentation of the projects, ensure the integrity of assumptions used in models and manage data according the department policies
  • Assist global teams by leveraging the expertise, the data and the results acquired while performing the activities mentioned above
  • Coach, mentor, transfer and share knowledge with analysts. Identify and encourage areas of growth and improvement within the team
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other duties as required
