Office of Product Regulation and Actuarial Services Mission Statement\: The mission of the Office of Product Regulation and Actuarial Services (OPRAS) is to provide consumer protection and assure compliance with all applicable insurance laws and regulations through the review of insurance product policy forms and verification that premium rates are actuarially sound. ODI is seeking an eager, innovative and industrious current college student to participate in our Summer College Internship Program. If selected, you will work alongside our team of actuaries in the Office of Product Regulation and Actuarial Service (OPRAS) who are charged with monitoring actuarial aspects of insurance product filings and insurer reserve filings for compliance with Ohio regulations. Duration of the summer internship would be May to August. The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, specifically in spreadsheet and database programming.

  • Must be currently enrolled and attending a college degree program directly related to Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Statistics and not scheduled to graduate until after completion of internship requirements.
  • 1 year experience using standard office equipment (i.e., Excel, Word Access or the like).

Responsibilities

  • Upgrade spreadsheet tools used to review and identify trends in insurer financials.
  • Assist with review of insurer cash flow testing models and results.
  • Assist in organizing insurer data submissions.
