About the position

The Actuarial Manager at Kemper will lead the Pricing Team in Alpharetta, GA, overseeing actuarial analysts and performing complex pricing analyses. This role involves managing projects, providing technical guidance, and collaborating with senior leaders to develop pricing strategies that align with organizational goals. Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise actuarial analysts by assigning work and providing technical guidance.
  • Perform highly complex pricing analyses and prepare internal management information.
  • Oversee the production of sound rate level indications and support the state filing process with actuarial certification.
  • Conduct complex pricing analyses including rate calculations and segmentation analysis.
  • Assist in enforcing best practices in quantifying and preparing proposed rates.
  • Prepare actuarial proposals for management and business partners.
  • Aggregate and query ratemaking data to develop recommendations on rates.
  • Perform complex trend analysis and automate processes to improve efficiencies.
  • Support the development and design of new plans and products.
  • Complete pricing projects and ad-hoc requests, and develop management information for business partners.
  • Communicate effectively with management and business partners, adhering to compliance requirements.
  • Assist in the development of junior-level staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience as an actuarial analyst, preferably in Property & Casualty.
  • Associate (ACAS) or Fellow (FCAS) of the Casualty Actuarial Society or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience managing actuarial analysts.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial ratemaking methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to perform actuarial pricing analysis independently.
  • Creative problem-solver with strong quantitative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills including time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, VBA, Python or R.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with regulatory sign-off and correspondence with regulators.
  • Knowledge of market implications of business strategies.
