About The Position

The Individual Retirement modeling team (supporting IR pricing function) is looking for an Actuarial Model Validation Associate. In this role, the Actuarial Model Validation Associate is expected to design pricing model validation strategies, implement and execute testing plan, and write model validation documentation to conclude validation results and report model issues. This position will report to VP, Head of IR Modeling and Actuarial Support and will be based in Woodland Hills, CA, Houston, TX or Jersey City, NJ.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Math/Statistics/Computer Science or related area
  • Actuarial modeling experiences (with RAFM, Prophet, AXIS, or similar platforms) strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • 2+ years of experience with Index, Fixed, RILA annuities
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Programming experience using languages such as Python and C++ are helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Understand and participate in the development of validation plans to cover all aspects of the pricing model changes
  • Obtain the expertise to set up, run and extract results from the pricing models and perform independent testing and validation
  • Execute validation plan, research and reconcile discrepancy between expectation and implementation, and create model validation documents
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet version of pricing models to illustrate model functionalities
  • Collaborate internally and externally to obtain required information for model validation, communicate findings and resolve issues
  • Provide support with routine model review and audit
  • Enhance model validation process, by proposing/adhering to sound model validation best practice and providing clear documentation of model validation procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
