About The Position
The Actuarial Intern position at Erie Insurance is part of the Future Focus Internship Program, designed to provide college students with a comprehensive and enriching internship experience. Interns will work closely with experienced departmental staff to conduct actuarial studies across various lines of business, including auto, property, and commercial insurance. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the actuarial field while contributing to meaningful projects that impact the company's operations and decision-making processes. Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks, including conducting detailed analyses of insurance programs, profitability assessments, and reserve studies. They will also have the chance to create exhibits, reports, and charts for actuarial studies and state insurance department filings. The position emphasizes learning and development, with interns expected to develop a basic understanding of ratemaking procedures and to utilize programming skills in SAS and Visual Basic to extract and analyze data. The internship is structured to include orientation to the company and the insurance industry, along with a personal mentor to guide the intern throughout their experience. Interns will participate in educational, social, and community service events, as well as networking opportunities with senior leaders, including the CEO. This program not only aims to enhance professional skills but also fosters personal growth and community engagement among participants.
