About The Position

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is currently seeking an Actuarial Intern to join the Actuarial Department for Summer 2026. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in actuarial science through meaningful projects that support our goal to be a leading small business insurance provider nationwide.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a four-year degree program for actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field (sophomore level or above preferred).
• GPA of 3.0 or higher required.
• Completion of an actuarial exam preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Excel and/or PowerBI.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with data and statistical analysis performed in SQL, R, and/or Python preferred.
• Ability to take initiative and ownership of assigned projects in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity, accountability, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pricing, reserving, and/or data science initiatives through assigned projects and analysis.
• Applying actuarial and statistical techniques to evaluate our insurance products and assess profitability.
• Learning and applying actuarial methods while working with internal and external data sources.
• Creating data visualizations using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
• Presenting findings and insights to Actuarial leadership and other key stakeholders.

Benefits

• Pay Range: $23-$27 per hour.
• The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
