Brown & Brown is seeking an Actuarial Consultant to join our growing team! The Actuarial Consultant supports client healthcare initiatives and innovations by delivering data‑driven insights and strategic actuarial expertise across a range of projects. This role collaborates with senior colleagues to produce high‑quality actuarial analyses for team, insurer, provider, and care solution clients, supporting efforts such as product design, pricing optimization, network evaluation, and actuarial studies. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing actuarial models, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring work aligns with actuarial standards and best practices. The Actuarial Consultant also contributes to practice development initiatives, builds scalable analytical tools, and partners cross‑functionally to deliver accurate, timely, and impactful solutions that support clients’ risk management and financial decision‑making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial, data science, economics, or a related field.
  • ASA/FSA (Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation required.
  • 5+ years of healthcare actuarial experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: Knowledge of commercial healthcare and healthcare stop loss markets and products Traditional Health & Welfare benefits actuarial consulting (managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design changes and employee contributions, renewal, business placement, benchmarking) and underwriting experience Knowledge of care/utilization management and performing ROI and/or program evaluations and health care economics Reserving, pricing and financial modeling for both first dollar and medical stop loss Pharmacy knowledge – PBM pricing, contracts, distribution, and management as well as pharmaceutical companies, specialty drugs Experience with alternative funding arrangements such as MEWAs and Captives Experience in actuarial model development Knowledge of healthcare databases and data sources (claims, encounters, labs, EMR etc.).
  • Proven critical thinking skills that allow you to push through the data and find effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, conceptualize, problem solve, and communicate information confidently and collaboratively with attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness.
  • Experience building quantitative models in SQL (Structured Query Language), VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), and/or SAS (Statistical Analysis System).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written, particularly in conveying complex topics to non-expert audiences and a professional presence.

Responsibilities

  • Support a diverse range of actuarial or analytical projects and effective client deliverables
  • Responsible for technical actuarial work and peer review, ensuring timeliness and quality of work
  • Mentor and develop junior members of actuarial and analytical team
  • Collaborate with actuarial leadership in the design and execution of complex analyses, ensuring adherence to actuarial standards by selecting appropriate data sources, developing assumptions, recognizing considerations, and providing actionable insights.
  • Assist in development and implementation of practice development initiatives.
  • Assist in building scalable and dynamic models and work processes.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with other RSC teams to ensure accurate, timely teamwork and project execution
