Due to an internal promotion, CNA is seeking an Actuarial Consultant to join an analytics team within the Property & Casualty Claims department made up of actuarial, business intelligence and data professionals. In this position, you will primarily be supporting the Property line of business with a focus on estimating ultimate losses for catastrophic storms as well as producing analytical insights using claims data. The role includes frequent collaboration with the U.S. and International Property Claims teams. Successful candidates will be comfortable interacting with senior leaders, technically strong, and will enhance our capabilities to make data driven decisions and recommendations in this non-traditional actuarial role. For those candidates still sitting for actuarial exams, you will participate in our Actuarial Education Program which provides competitive study support and exam raises. This position enjoys a hybrid work schedule that consists of two days per week in any of our CNA office locations with the option to work the remainder of your week remotely.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance, actuarial and statistical concepts.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA’s internal and external business partners sometimes influencing decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Ability to make critical business decisions effectively within scope of authority.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, can manage multiple moderately complex projects.
  • Ability to comprehend business data and metrics and to further articulate analyses of actuarial data within internal reports.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent.
  • Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience.
  • Typically at least three to five successfully completed CAS exams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with business partners and functional subject matter experts, provides actuarial input as needed.
  • Partners with peers, business partners and leaders to support a specific segment's strategy through the use of actionable insights and analytics.
  • Proactively monitors claim trends and shares results with claims leaders and peers.
  • Provides support to less experienced team members and help to manage projects as needed.
  • Stays up to date in actuarial expertise and industry trends and development.
  • Produces standard and special reports as needed.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
