About The Position

Milliman's Mountain Gulf Health Practice is seeking an entry level actuarial analyst to join our team. This position provides opportunities for professional growth and technical skill development in the healthcare actuarial field. A successful candidate will possess excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills and will be self-motivated and driven to achieve. Intellectual curiosity, teamwork, and a strong desire to learn are important drivers of success in our practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or another major with quantitative course work.
  • At least one or more Society of Actuaries exams passed.
  • Solid understanding of basic actuarial concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Some knowledge of a statistical analysis language (SAS, R, SQL, or Python).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Client focused and results oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis using Excel, SAS, and proprietary Milliman programs to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas, such as Commercial / ACA, Medicare, Behavioral Health, Risk Adjustment, Dental and more.
  • Coordinate efforts within a project team to deliver client reports and deliverables.
  • Analyze data, complete actuarial calculations, develop and utilize actuarial models, and implement software solutions.
  • Help implement business development efforts.
  • Support progression with actuarial exams by utilizing paid study time and materials.
