About The Position

AmTrust Financial is seeking an aspiring actuarial student, preferably with pricing experience. This individual will collaborate closely within their team and across departments to develop rate indications and conduct profitability analyses for our retail workers’ compensation portfolio, supporting improved profitability and strategic growth. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires effectively conveying analytical findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences. AmTrust is an innovative, customer-centric organization. We are looking for someone who will add skillsets to our team in driving results. Ideally, this person will have experience making creative methodology changes, driving a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines and/or independently improving team workflow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or financial related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of actuarial experience
  • Actively pursuing exams, with goal of becoming FCAS.
  • Understanding of insurance, underwriting, pricing, reinsurance, and financials
  • Ability to critically problem solve and use business knowledge in developing solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adept with programming languages / software such as R, SQL, Python, SAS and/or other statistical programming languages. Working experience with R and SQL preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse skillsets

Responsibilities

  • Refresh existing analyses or perform new analyses and collaborate on process improvements with increasing independence.
  • Partner with team members to develop new templates that enhance pricing and planning inputs.
  • Actively participate in discussions presenting recommendations to business partners.
  • Prepare state filing materials and address regulatory objections.
  • Collaborate with teammates to develop compelling presentations for underwriting and management audiences. Produce clear written communication and documentation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on pricing and rate development.
  • Support the fitting, testing, and implementation of predictive models.
  • Maintain and update SQL and SAS code used to extract data for various analyses.
