We are seeking a Actuarial Intern to join our Risk, Analytics and Data team. Primary Function: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Intern to join our Risk, Analytics and Data team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in actuarial reserving, working closely with seasoned professionals in the insurance industry. The successful candidate will support key reserving activities, including financial reporting, data analysis, and process improvements, while developing technical and analytical skills.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field
• Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam (e.g., CAS or SOA).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Prior internship experience in actuarial science or insurance is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with property and casualty insurance concepts is an advantage.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, or VBA is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing actuarial loss reserving analyses, including estimating unpaid claims liabilities and developing insights for financial decision-making
• Support quarterly financial reporting deliverables by ensuring high data quality and meeting deadlines
• Perform data extraction, manipulation, and analysis using tools such as Excel, SQL, R, VBA, or Python
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including automation of recurring tasks to enhance efficiency
• Conduct descriptive statistical analyses to monitor loss trends and validate actuarial assumptions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Claims, and Data Analytics to align on reserving activities
• Prepare and present findings from actuarial analyses to leadership and stakeholders
• Support ad hoc projects related to risk management, regulatory reporting (e.g., ORSA), or enterprise risk management (ERM)
