About The Position

Blue Ridge Health is currently seeking a Vocational Specialist to be part of our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Sylva, NC. Within the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) program, the Vocational Specialist is a member of the ACTT multidisciplinary program, has training in Individual Placement and Support – Supported Employment (IPS-SE), and possesses the supported employment skills and expertise to assess, plan, develop, coordinate, and provide rehabilitation and support services focusing on vocational goals to clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses under the supervision of the team leader. This individual functions as a vital member of the multidisciplinary team and provides employment rehabilitation and support services directly to clients, as well as job development through building and maintaining professional relationships with local employers and other partner agencies, such as DSS and SSDI offices. The Vocational Specialist assists adults with mental health concerns, for whom employment has not been achieved and/or has been interrupted or intermittent. The Vocational Specialist provides person-centered, individualized, evidence-based service that provides assistance with choosing, acquiring, and maintaining competitive paid employment in the community. In addition to providing direct skill-building, support, and rehabilitation interventions, the ACTT Vocational Specialist who is also a Qualified Professional is one of the team members responsible for the development and implementation of the Person-Centered Plan. This position also requires participation in 24/7/365 on-call crisis phone rotation. The ACTT Team is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals consisting of a Psychiatrist, Registered Nurse, Vocational Specialist, Peer Support Specialist, Substance Abuse Specialist, Therapists, and other Qualified Mental Health Professionals. The majority of treatment is provided in the community and in individuals’ homes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, those with a degree in Human Services field preferred
  • At least one year full-time, accumulated supervised MH/SA experience
  • Valid Driver’s License with no restrictions and reliable transportation
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
