The position involves planning, directing, and coordinating an entire activity therapy program for special needs populations, such as inmates assigned to residential treatment units. Additionally, the role includes overseeing a general activity/recreational program for all inmates in the general population. The individual will develop, interpret, and monitor the implementation of program policies and procedures while supervising lower-level activity therapy staff. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining work-related documentation, assisting in budget preparation, and managing equipment and supply inventories. The position requires reviewing and maintaining records of inmate progress and conducting individual and group activity therapy activities. The individual will also oversee the maintenance of supplies and equipment, approve employee leave requests, and prepare performance evaluations. Participation in institutional committees and annual in-service training is expected, along with performing security functions such as controlling inmate movement.
