About The Position

This position is responsible to plan, organize, implement and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation and leisure programs to psychiatric patients, including group leisure time and physical education activities, which are designed to maximize the social, physical, cognitive and emotional functioning of patients so that a desirable quality of leisure life can be attained.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of therapeutic recreation, physical education, dance movement, music therapy or related field.
• At least one (1) year of experience providing instruction in a recreational program or in a closely related work, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Certification or Licensure as a Recreational, Occupational, Music, Art, or Yoga Therapist required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course must be completed during new hire orientation prior to working in a clinical setting.
• Handle with Care, and Verbal De-Escalation training must be completed during new hire orientation and annually prior to working in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrate a caring, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to encourage and appropriately support others.
• Knowledge and skill in evaluating and treating adolescent, adult, and geriatric persons with psychosocial and cognitive problems.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in behavioral healthcare strongly preferred.
