Job Overview The Activities Specialist assists with the day-to-day delivery of resident-centered activities and programs for our community. Under the supervision and direction of the Area Activity Manager, Property Manager and Regional Manager, the Activities Specialist will be working with residents creating activities (physical, spiritual, social and emotional). Flexible AM and PM hours. Also, some weekends as needed for activities.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory
  • One year job related experience preferred in a senior living community setting
  • Ability to work semi-independently
  • Ability to lead activities with residents that have high energy and/or challenging behaviors
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate small group presentations
  • Competent in organizational, time management skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to make responsible choices and decisions and act in a resident’s best interest
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision by following community procedures and guidelines and can follow through on assigned tasks
  • Demonstration of proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel), with the ability to learn new applications
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining a balanced resident centered activity program (physical, spiritual, social and emotional) for our vibrant community following the Activity Program.
  • Conducts and/or assists with planned resident activities, programs and services from one on one up to 32+ residents.
  • Assists, invites and encourages residents to participate in activities.
  • Assists residents to and from the activity areas as necessary.
  • Documents resident participation per regulations.
  • Maintains activity areas in an orderly manner
  • Assists in maintaining an inventory of activity and programming supplies, games, programs and craft services.
  • Coordinate venders and local companies for parties and events.
  • Coordinate with local restaurants for weekly meal catering.
  • Social Media Planning and posting.
  • Drive a 15-passenger van for activities off site.
  • Reviews & reads Logs to document and learn information about resident’s physical and behavioral changes as well as activities information.
  • Fosters positive resident relations; responds to resident requests and directs resident feedback and requests to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information.
  • Partners with community team to ensure community is following OSHA requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
