About The Position

The Activity Manager oversees camp programming and waterfront operations, ensuring safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities in compliance with American Camp Association (ACA) standards and council policies. This role supervises program staff and lifeguards, coordinates daily activity schedules, and ensures the safe operation of multiple waterfront areas, including swimming and small watercraft. The Activity Manager plays a key leadership role in maintaining program quality, staff supervision, and risk management throughout the camp session.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification required, or willingness and ability to obtain prior to the start of camp (training can be provided)
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required, or willingness and ability to obtain prior to the start of camp (training can be provided)
  • Current Waterfront Module and Basic Canoeing Certification required, or willingness and ability to obtain prior to the start of camp (training can be provided)
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of camp programming best practices.
  • Ability to model Girl Scout values and create a physically and emotionally safe, inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet council insurance eligibility requirements; be comfortable operating council vehicles, including large passenger vans, as needed.
  • Complete any required driver authorization or safety training prior to transporting campers or staff.
  • Ability to reside on-site during camp sessions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising youth programs and staff preferred.
  • Experience managing waterfront or aquatics programming preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support program specialists and lifeguards.
  • Coordinate daily activity and waterfront schedules to ensure smooth operations and appropriate supervision ratios.
  • Oversee safe operation of multiple waterfront areas (swim lake and canoe lake), including conducting swim tests and maintaining proper swimmer classifications.
  • Ensure aquatics safety documentation, equipment inspections, and emergency action plans are maintained in accordance with ACA standards.
  • Monitor program quality, camper engagement, and adherence to safety and behavior standards.
  • Maintain activity equipment and supply inventories.
  • Support staff training, coaching, and performance feedback throughout the camp session.
  • Participate in emergency drills and respond appropriately to incidents in collaboration with the Camp Director.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive camp culture aligned with Girl Scout values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
