About The Position

Activity Director / Life Enrichment Director St. Augustine Home for the Aged – Indianapolis, IN Serving the elderly poor with love, respect, and dignity for more than 150 years. We are seeking an experienced Activity Director (Life Enrichment Director) to lead a comprehensive, engaging activities program that supports the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well‑being of our residents. Working in partnership with staff and volunteers, this role plays a vital part in fostering the family spirit that defines our Home. Inspired by our foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan— “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts” —our care centers on kindness, respect, and dignity.

Requirements

  • Activity Director certification - required (Completion of the 90‑hour Activity Professional Course as required by ISDH)
  • Applicable experience in long‑term care or geriatric life enrichment
  • Knowledge of recreational programming including arts, crafts, music, and reality orientation
  • Ability to plan and carry out individualized and group activities across levels of care
  • Leadership ability with sound judgment, initiative, and integrity
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and direct a comprehensive activities program aligned with resident assessments and care plans
  • Supervise and support Activity Department staff and volunteers
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Coordinate weekday, evening, weekend, and community‑based activities
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary and management team
  • Serve as a role model in upholding the mission and values of the Home
