About The Position

Activity Director Responsibilities: Encourages social communication among residents through group activities and recreation. Plans monthly birthday parties, special holidays, provides games and encourages residents to assist in the planning, etc., making table decorations, etc. May engage residents in cooking and gardening activities. Plans trips (shopping, scenic, other) and arranges for transportation and supervision. Encourages residents to participate in religious activities to fulfill their basic spiritual needs through visits ,attendance at regular religious services (various denominations) whenever possible, spiritual reading materials and others as requested by residents. Trains and schedules volunteers to assist in various activities programs. Tracks volunteer hours and visits. Responsible under the supervision of the administrator for all personnel issues within the department to include hiring, firing, discipline, schedules and daily assignments.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must have 2 years of experience in long term care in the activities program

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer Activity experience
  • Prefer Activity Assistant Certified, or Activity Director Certified, or Activity Consultant Certified
  • If not certified, must have worked a minimum of two years within the previous five years in activities in a health care setting.
