About The Position

Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. We operate Florida PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers, the largest PACE program in Florida, which serves as health plan, healthcare provider, and social center designed for older adults with complex medical needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation preferred; experience can be substituted for degree as indicated below
  • 3-5 years' experience in recreational therapy with elderly population in a supervisory role or Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and 1 year experience with elderly
  • Certified Activities Director preferred
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist preferred
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Friendly, outgoing, positive personality
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of the work group, and participants
  • Sensitivity to the needs of an aging population
  • Computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of documentation desirable

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of participants
  • Develops specific therapeutic programs to include recreational and social activities
  • Records, signs, and dates progress reports in participant records
  • Maintains the daily operation of the day center
  • Plans and provides both group and individual programming
  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and developing individualized and measurable care plans
  • Supervises with participant care needs such as toileting and feeding
  • Supervises day care certified nursing assistants, volunteers and additional daycare staff
  • Responsible for scheduling staff, toileting schedule and participant tracking record
  • Keeps inventory and order sheets for recreation and day center supplies
  • Plans and administers participant council
  • Completes other assignments as needed
