About The Position

This position is located at the Gallatin Rest Home and is responsible for implementing recreational and social activities to enhance the quality of life for residents. Activities may include exercise, bingo, crafts, seasonal celebrations, and games. The Activity Aide reports to the Activities Coordinator and does not supervise other personnel. RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION Collaborate daily with the Activities Coordinator to review and prepare for scheduled programming. Plans, sets up, and leads daily activities such as group games, sensory stimulation, exercise, bingo, arts and crafts, birthday/holiday parties, and other events that support residents' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. Adapts programming as needed based on residents' abilities, interests, or requests from residents or families. Escorts residents to and from activities, both within the facility and to off-site events as appropriate. Conducts one-on-one visits to provide companionship and meaningful interaction. Observes and documents resident participation, engagement level, responsiveness, and duration of involvement in activities. Communicates with the Activities Coordinator and interdisciplinary team regarding changes in resident needs (e.g., diet, mobility, behavior) to tailor programming appropriately. Cleans and sanitizes activity supplies and spaces after use to maintain infection control and safety standards. Must be physically able to assist and maneuver residents in wheelchairs during activities and transitions. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. This may include covering for co-workers, participating in training, contributing to special events or projects, and other support tasks. If the County declares a local emergency (e.g., fire, flood, earthquake), all employees may be required to support emergency response and recovery efforts. This position requires: Knowledge of the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of older adults. Familiarity with group activity facilitation, behavior observation, and appropriate documentation. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents, families, and staff. The ability to adapt activities to various ability levels and preferences.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation.

  • Previous experience working with older adults in a care setting is preferred
