About The Position

The Activity Assistant at The Citadel of Northbrook plays a crucial role in supporting the Activity Director by assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing recreational services tailored to meet the individualized needs and interests of the patient population within the center. This position is essential in promoting the well-being and engagement of patients through various therapeutic recreational activities. The Activity Assistant is responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and supportive environment, adhering to established safety policies and procedures. This includes observing the safety needs of patients as indicated in their care plans and participating in restraint reduction programs. The role also requires following infection control precautions and using safety equipment as necessary. In addition to safety responsibilities, the Activity Assistant assists in the development and delivery of therapeutic recreational services aimed at enhancing the patients' quality of life. This includes encouraging participation in a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, community outings, religious activities, and educational programs. The Activity Assistant is also involved in maintaining documentation related to activities, submitting supply lists, and assisting the Activity Director in organizing and supervising the volunteer program. This position requires strong communication skills, as the Activity Assistant must interact effectively with patients, families, volunteers, and staff to foster a positive and engaging environment. The role is dynamic and may involve miscellaneous work assignments as required, emphasizing the need for flexibility and adaptability.
