About The Position

The Program Specialist II is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of a Recreational Therapist.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in activity therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline preferred; or currently enrolled in a Certified Recreational Therapy program, or have State Approved Activity Director Certification and/or Associate's Degree in occupational therapy or related field.
• Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Preferred certification by state and/or national governing body in the following applicable areas: art, recreation, occupation, or music therapy, if applicable.
• May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate responsibility for observation and application of sound judgment in patient's physical and mental condition/needs.
• Observe and document changes in patient's appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse or Recreational Therapist.
• Provides assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
