About The Position

This supervisor position oversees the wellness and activities programs for senior living and assisted living, and reports to the Senior Living Administrator. Creates and views resident care plans around activities. Completes activity assessments and Minimum Data Set (MDS) questions as required for assisted living residents. Reports problems, concerns and information to leadership in an appropriate and timely manner. Communicates department activities and information to employees. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strives to improve the quality of life for the residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions on a one-on-one and/or group basis. Administers the monthly activity calendar. Regularly elicits residents input into activity planning and keeps activities well organized and upbeat, following all state required activities such as music, craft and spiritual activities. Plans and partakes in activities such as nature walks, pet therapy, music therapy, excursions, and others in order to support residents and ensure they are functioning at an optimal level while also maintaining dignity and identity. Assists with simple nursing procedures and transporting residents to and from rooms. Demonstrates leadership abilities such as developing and motivating people. Possesses the ability to work with strong willed residents and/or behavioral issues. Maintains strong critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Prioritizes responsibilities while working autonomously. Plans and oversees the utilization of resources and designs of work processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Prioritizes responsibilities while working autonomously.
  • Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
  • Experience in social services or creative activities.
  • When working in a skilled, long term care facility, must be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body.
  • Successful completion of an accredited training program approved by state preferred.
  • Depending on location, this role classifies as a Sanford Category I or II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver’s license.
  • Also must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Two years experience in this field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year previous leadership/management experience preferred.
  • Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare related program preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
