About The Position

The Activities Supervisor at Chamberlain Care Center is responsible for creating and implementing resident activities and events. This role involves managing activity staff schedules and coordinating volunteer staffing and activities. The supervisor will create and view resident care plans around activities, complete activity assessments, and report any problems or concerns to leadership in a timely manner. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the supervisor will communicate department activities and information to employees. The goal is to improve the quality of life for residents by providing appropriate, meaningful activities and interventions on both a one-on-one and group basis. The supervisor will administer the monthly activity calendar and regularly elicit residents' input into activity planning, ensuring activities are well organized and upbeat, following all state-required activities such as music, crafts, and spiritual activities. The role also includes participating in activities like fishing, nature walks, pet therapy, and music therapy to support residents and help them function at an optimal level while maintaining their dignity and identity. Additionally, the supervisor will assist with simple nursing procedures and transport residents to and from their rooms. Leadership abilities are crucial for developing and motivating staff, and the supervisor must possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills while prioritizing responsibilities and working autonomously.

Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Two years experience in this field preferred.
  • Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics.
  • Experience in social services or creative activities.
  • Minimum of one year previous leadership/management experience preferred.
  • Eligibility for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body when working in a skilled, long-term care facility.
  • Successful completion of an accredited training program approved by the state preferred.
  • Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare-related program preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and motor vehicle report may be required depending on location.
