About The Position

- The Activities Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities designed to enhance the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of clients. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and social interaction among participants.

Requirements

High School diploma required.
Minimum of one year experience working with the target population
Strong knowledge of therapeutic activities and their benefits in mental health treatment.
Excellent organizational and planning skills to create effective activity schedules.
Ability to assess individual needs and tailor activities to support therapeutic goals.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Proficiency in documenting client progress and activity outcomes.
Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency procedures in a behavioral health setting.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred
Previous experience in a therapeutic or rehabilitation environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in the training and supervision of volunteers and interns involved in activity programs.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of new activity initiatives and strategies.
Stay informed about current trends and best practices in recreational therapy to continually enhance program offerings.
